My Debian experience has been getting worse, especially on the desktop. I think it's time to distro-hop to something less manual…
-
That really sucks... I've found #debian to be pretty stable. When I don't want to mess with stuff, I just jump to !trisquel
-
@windigo, @vinzv i mostly use #debian because i like the social contract and because it's super stable once i get it set up (at least #jessie is). my little netbook isn't performant enough to run !trisquel well and i'm always afraid of brea…

@windigo, maybe #guix will be an option soon as well. /cc @davek

I did not but LXDE isn't my cup of tea. I'm an XFCE fan. The standard Trisquel with XFCE installed on top of it was sluggish. I may build a live USB and try the mini version. Thanks for the tip.

@cmhobbs @vinzv @marcus Hmm, I hadn't thought about Trisquel - I've really liked it in the past. Time to download an iso! :)
-
Downloading it now! I'm really attached to Debian due to the social contract but I'm super attached to Trisquel due to its ootb behaviour. #freesoftwareproblems

Somewhat related, do you know if !trisquel is going to pick up Ubuntu's new package manager or switch to something else?
-
@theru Go sell crazy somewhere else, we're all stocked up here. ;)
-
@cmhobbs I loved Debian in the form of Crunchbang, but I think I don't understand the internals of X to go mucking about myself. :(
-
@vinzv maybe #guix will catch up by then
-
I use the package manager currently and that side of things is really great for what I do. I'm excited to see a release.

I'm putting Trisquel Mini on a USB stick now. This should be fun.
