    Saturday’s #longrun: 16.5 miles & 2300'+ started with ~12 miles from home to the Tennessee Valley Trailhead, joined friends for a bit more, nearly 14 to the #beach. Climbed up for a view, ran back to the parking lot.

    Felt strong, especially on the downhill finish. When I saw the guy in front slow down with maybe 20 yards to go, I sprinted extra hard to beat him by mere feet: 620th of 691 finishers.

    What I packed for a week away to a #yoga retreat @PosadaNatura Costa Rica.
    * carried mat and @TheNorthFace KABAN backpack
    * everything else fit inside backpack

    Containment:
    * laptop sleeve held everything above it except 13" MacBookAir (for scale), which fit in the KABAN’s laptop holder
    * red bag held everything above-right & above it

    I ended up not using:
    * Everything in the far right column
    (wasn’t hot enough to need a yoga towel or @Nov_Project buffs, didn’t do a trail run, nor shave, nor need the extra @AnkerOfficial USB battery)

    I gave away:
    * a few extra ziplock bags to others staying longer in Costa Rica

    Not pictured, what I wore and carried on me en route:
    * @ASICSamerica trail shoes, black Experia running socks, @Lululemon 4-way pants, v-neck t-shirt, @HM hoodie
    * small notepad, wallett, iPod 6 Touch, passport
    * iPod nano 3rd gen, earphones with mic, Skyroam rental mifi
    * @Suunto watch, @BowersWilkins bluetooth headphones

    Key: quick dry wet-wicking @Adidas & @Lululemon tanktops and lined @Lululemon & @NewBalance yoga/running shorts, easily & quickly washed after daily use while showering. Two pairs is enough to hang one set up to air dry while you wear the other.

    This the least/lightest I have traveled with for that long away (7 days & nights).

    Next least&lightest/days was in 2015, five days/nights away to Orlando, Florida:

    I was honored when Paddy asked me if I could teach #NPSF yoga instead of our usual Friday hills, due to the poor outdoor air quality (unhealthy for everyone) from the north bay fires. Thanks to #TheNorthFace for allowing us early morning use of their space!

    This was my first time teaching a full one hour yoga class on my own indoors (having taught outdoors over the summer), as well as first time teaching NPSF as a whole.

    I came up with a custom routine (and a new playlist) that I thought would suit NPSFs abilities & challenges, provide a good workout, but perhaps most importantly help people connect with themselves, and hopefully find a sense of peace & calm amongst everything happening at the time.

    Interestingly, though anxious at the start, I found myself also feeling more peaceful and calm as the class proceeded. Afterwards I was just grateful I was able to provide and serve a community which has inspired and helped me so much.

    Learning to teach yoga and share that has been one of the highlights of 2017. My training @YogaFlowSF also left me with more questions than answers, personal and universal, that I know I will be spending more time thinking about in the coming years. Grateful for all my teachers, past and present.

    Last photo is of a single-vendor "gettag" code abandoned years ago, no “free application” to download, unresponsive “.mobi” domain name. The domain name can be fixed/reregistered, but the closed source “native” app is lost, long obsoleted by mobile OS updates. Abject lessons in the fragility of single-vendor standards (compared to multi-vendor interop), and the ephemerality of native mobile “apps” (compared to repairable/relaunchable *websites*).
