    The author's explanation of expectation of "security" or "privacy" in #Mastodon is concerning. Knowing that !OStatus provides no privacy or security at all, bolting privacy and security features onto #Mastodon isn't going to work. This is not the fault of #OStatus, nor is it a shortcoming of #GNUsocial that it doesn't implement security or privacy with #OStatus, but recognizes that constraint.

    The article attributes lots of statements to the authors of both #GNUsocial and #Mastodon, things that I've never heard either state online (nothing that reached my timeline, anyway). The whole article seems to make the difference between #GNUsocial and #Mastodon much more acrimonious than I've experienced.

    @hannes2peer Här är en artikel som hävdar att ex. Instagram har en 3s-delay vid uppdateringar "pga det ska skapa temporär spänning som i enarmade banditer". Det känns som att de snott konceptet "segt och buggigt" från !GNUsocial! https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/the-secret-ways-social-media-is-built-for-addiction

    (Jag vill samtidigt som jag halvt skämtar om detta fråga ifall det faktiskt finns sådan delay eller om det, som jag misstänker, bara är seg telefon/uppkoppling hos kunden som orsakar denna delay. Vanligtvis brukar ju folk flippa ur om det tar 1-2s att ladda en hemsida typ)

    I think you're right in that some soul is lost. Anything which grows too much will fail as a community. However, as this is all !fs the important thing to remember is that these are mere tools to create our own, new and balanced communities.

    I for one have seen many Twitter users come and go in floods to the !fediverse, some staying to create instances of #GNUsocial I think are despicable and don't agree with. But they are only a problem if you lack moderation.

    Instead of "web-scale" we should think "human-scale".

    !gnusocial es sobre #descentralización y #libertad La idea es que el usuario tenga el control de su red social y no al revés, que el contenido le pertenezca al usuario, que el servidor que ejecuta el #software asegure la integridad de los datos del usuario y que el #código detrás de cada publicación sea transaprente, auditable... En cuanto a #tor y #javascript ya es cuestión de cada #nodo Pero eso ya no es tema de #gnusocial sino del nodo propiamente, de manera que es cuestión de saber escoger, si no, contamos con una opción todavía mejor: montar nuestro nodo y que la #privacidad corra por cuenta propia /cc !fediverse
