Anyone #selfhost their own #dns? I'm considering doing that for libernil.net but I need a secondary. None of my pals host their own DNS any longer.

Rad, thanks! I'll try to get something set up this weekend and shoot you a message.

@cmhobbs Just make sure you don't allow recursive lookups because you'll then be part of DNS reflection DDos attacks. (/someone who somehow reset that part of the config and wondered why his network was much slower for a week...)

Thanks for the input. I'll probably get to working on my BIND instance this evening. It's been about a decade since I've hosted my own DNS so I'll have some reading to do.

@cmhobbs I have this same issue with mail servers. Maybe there should be a network of self-hosters, with metrics on server uptime…

I'm moving toward self-hosting my own email again but I need to be careful that my infrastructure is all set up before then. It'd be nice to have some sort of coalition. Makes me wish there were more places like #sdf but community run (coop style) using free-software.

I have a physical server running in my office.
