Confused about how to organize my federated services: StatusNet and #pumpio? Multiple Mediagoblins (family and music)? What's your strategy?
-
@balleyne So far, I've created a subdomain for each one. I'm adding a "services" page to my site to keep them all straight! :)
-
@windigo: right. I'm also trying to figure out family/personal/artist distinction... gets more complicated when I think about hosting others
-
@balleyne Indeed. If it's in the budget, multiple domains might help silo apps intended for different audiences?
-
@windigo: Yeah... I use haise.ca for family stuff. blaise.ca for personal/professional. It's multiple accounts that gets me a bit confused.
-
@balleyne Indeed! I'd love it if more web apps supported OpenID, so that you could keep a single account for all...
-
@windigo: well, it's also a subscription thing. With Flickr, I had one account, with different collections for professional/family.
-
@windigo: With Mediagoblin, do I create multiple accounts? I guess that's a key question: whether purposes warrant distinct subscriptions...
-
@balleyne Heh, I'm afraid I haven't gotten Mediagoblin installed just yet - and my use cases are much simpler. :(
-
@windigo: heh, yeah, I wear several different hats... hmm, thanks for helping me think out loud though!
-
@balleyne No problem; I think this is a very interesting challenge facing people using federated web services, and worth a discussion! :)
