I should try Crunchbang sometime. Except I'm lazy and Debian is already perfect. :)

@gomerx #crunchbang is the best, especially for old low powered machines. it's Debian with openbox already setup and fiddly things like automounting USB drives already taken care of.

@jk @gomerx #crunchbang is one of the few distros that set up the driver for my Dell’s #WiFi card during installation. Usually post-install.

I'm bought a laptop with WiFi hardware with open source drivers. Never had a problem.

@gomerx This was a Dell with Vista that came from Best Buy. Updates perilous if hotel only has #WiFi.

I got lucky with this one. It has an Atheros card with free drivers but I didn't know that til I bought it.

If you've got Mini PCIE slot, dig up an Atheros 9000 series card. WiFi plus Bluetooth and free drivers.
