@tuttle setting up virtual servers for hosting websites, databases, email services, DNS, and related
-
@bobjonkman me too! I love that part. What tempts me to leave is that I don't feel comfortable giving Virtualmin access to users to manage email for their own domains, or sometimes I'd like to run a website on a different stack but still need say DNS...
-
I've been using Virtualmin for years, but tempted to move away from the monolithic control panel model. What do you use? How about for email or DNS servers?

I've been a holdout on my X60/T61 for 9 years now, but very tempted to upgrade to something current. I was thinking of just a Libreboot X200/T400, but tempted to go current instead with the prospect of having one powerhouse for webdev, recording, live audio, presentations, etc...

My living room server died (motherboard) after 6 years of dutiful service, hosting Mediagoblin, Dokuwiki, Snowy, ownCloud, rsync backups, and GNOME3 for living room computing purposes. I feel like I lost a family pet or something.

@bobjonkman btw key to USB audio interfaces are finding ones that are "class compliant" in terms of GNU/Linux compatibility. The Focusrite ones tend to be class compliant (I have a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 for gigs), and I have a larger Firewire Presonus Firepod (in my home studio)
-
@bobjonkman Do you hard the hardware? The USB/firewire audio interface? I have a couple. An audio interface connects via USB, functions like a sound card, and provides however manage separate channels it has on the hardware interface through the single USB connection within JACK.

@cmhobbs@loadaverage.org not sure re: Zika/Olympics, but I've taken my kids on flights from Toronto to Barbados and BC. Flying is easier than long drives. They never went on shorter flights first. I think it's worth travelling with kids, instills that love and sense of adventure.

@windigo@micro.fragdev.com I almost agree, except worried extensions will languish and become obsolete
