Anyways, I'm supposed to get my Raspberry Pi Zero Wireless tomorrow! I need to look up how to make it portable, so time to search for projects for it!

Finally, with my roommate I'm going to go see a movie! DnD is unfortunately cancelled tomorrow due to the fact that the DM is sick.

Good afternoon #sdf, #tildeverse and #fediverse! Today I wonder about how we can make self-hosting easy for the average person. Something they could learn in 5 min with a cheat sheet.

Of course, it depends on what you want to self-host, and it also opens a can of security worms.

Maybe peer-to-peer solutions are the way to go for now? Stuff like RetroShare, ZeroNet, I2P and the like are good examples I guess, but are there other good applications out there not listed on wikipedia?

Good afternoon #sdf and others! Today it's been stormy here in Florida. I don't feel like working on anything today, just catching up on various things.

I ordered the first volume of Battle Angel Alita since I want to see how bad Hollywood butchers it like they did Ghost in the Shell.

I also ordered a Raspberry Pi Zero W(ireless) that I want to turn into something portable, but I have no idea where to begin with that.

Also I plan to Linux on one of my old game consoles(the Wii) cuz I can :)

Good afternoon #sdf, #fediverse and #phloggers! Today I plan to experiment with the #tomu, which, if you didn't know, is an ARM microcontroller that is super tiny! You plug it into the usb port of your computer, in fact! It also has 2 buttons and 2 LEDs. It doesn't have much storage space, but someone managed to put C64 BASIC onto it, which you can access via serial! Anyways, I'm also playing with a #opensolaris distro called Tribblix. It's apparently meant to be retro and uses SVR4 packages

Good afternoon #sdf, #fediverse and #phloggers! Today Discord was down for 30 minutes(as far as I know). This isn't a rant about Discord, however. I just know that millions of people place their trust and their business(like streamers) onto proprietary networks like Twitch and Discord. What happens when proprietary software becomes too big to fail? I don't want to see my fav Twitch streamers lose their business, but I'm worried...

It's an intentional community like tilde.town. It runs on a freedombox. I want to promote free software, open hardware and more within it. Right now I have Mumble, IRC and Matrix servers running!

Good morning #sdf, #fediverse and #phloggers! Last night I logged into my SDF account and realized I hadn't updated my homepage in forever. Not to mention my gophersite as well. So I updated my phlog and today will update my homepage.

The thing is, I want to completely revamp my site into one that's lynx friendly(Which it already kinda is) and is less messy with the links. So yeah, I need inspiration!

So far I like it. I think we need more instances of it.

In any case, I think I prefer microblogging over regular blogging because it's easier to get short thoughts out in a stream-of-consciousness type deal.

Good evening #sdf and others! I wanted to show everyone that, with relative ease, one could make their own community using a #raspberrypi 3 and the #freedombox.

So far I have #Matrix, #Mumble and #IRC working on it. For some reason #xmpp wouldn't work, even after re-installation. In any case, I consider this #tilde to be one for free software activists, people who want an inclusive community and so forth.

Good afternoon #sdf + #fediverse + #phloggers ! Still waiting for a distro to replace my Win10 machine! I'm thinking that until I can replace it, I'll use the #freebsd desktop I have.

I'm also thinking that I won't be running a #tilde, #gopher, #irc or any other type of instance atm because in order people to want to come to it, it's gotta be advertised and most people just wind up going to either SDF or tilde.town.

I still plan to use the #freedombox because it's amazing!

I am thinking of converting my #freedombox setup to a #tilde, and it should be rather easy to do so. As far as my #BBS goes, I am thinking of retiring that and just using that for a box that runs #syncthing and #gopher!

Not to mention all the security breaches we DON'T know about because corporate doesn't think it's worth telling us about?

So I've decided that I'm getting rid of some of my accounts that aren't needed any longer.

Good afternoon #sdf, #fediverse and #phloggers! Unfortunately, I am still tied down by proprietary services. I think I can get rid of twitter now, I just need to tell my friends about Mastodon! Next on the hit list is google! Then finally, the big one, facebook.

It's been a long road, but I believe that I will become proof that nowadays you don't need to rely on such services and that, depending on your needs, there's a better solution out there just waiting to be used!

Good afternoon #sdf, #fediverse and #phloggers! So I setup my wiki site, and it's on the net. I just need to continue to work on it before I let anyone know where to find it. Also I got a #disroot account! It's awesome that they use #nextcloud, #xmpp and a host of other free software for their site! I would like a #riseup account too, but apparently you need an invite link or something.

Good morning #sdf, #fediverse and #phloggers! Still working on the synchronet BBS... also on my wiki dedicated to de-google-fying and decentralization and privacy and so on and so forth.

On another note, my new laptop, the sound wasn't working right, and I figured out that it was driver issues. I fixed it! Sadly tho, I can't switch to Linux just yet because the wireless driver hasn't been integrated into the kernel. It's a Realtek 8723de card.

On the DnD front, I found a campaign to DM! Woo!

Good morning #SDF, #fediverse and #phloggers! I got my freedombox running on the big scary 'net last night, and so far I'm running the #coquelicot, #searx and #syncthing services. It's running pretty smooth so far! As far as my #BBS goes, I'm thinking of also making a website that would advertise it and directs people on how to reach it. In effect, I would like it to be like a #tilde. Fortunately #synchronet offers lots of services that anyone can use. So yeah, that's what I'm up to.

Good morning #sdf, #gopher users and #fediversers ! So, I compiled #synchronet on one of my pis. I think that BBSes are cool, and this one also supports having a gopher daemon. I'm not very artistic, but I do want to create a BBS for activists who want to shape a new and better internet, as well as for other things as well(Games, music etc lol).

Good morning #SDF, #fediverse and #phloggers! I ordered another Raspberry #pi since I felt my older one just wasn't cutting it anymore. I'll put a #gopher server and #BBS on the new one coming.

I'm thinking of experimenting with #arduino, so I wanna know, what kind of things can you do with a arduino and a pi together? Have you peeps done anything cool lately with your pis and arduinos?
