    Google still keeps a list of everything you ever bought using Gmail, even if you delete all your emails

    Google tracks everything you buy using Gmail to gather the receipts for a Purchases list it saves. It says you can delete this by deleting the email, but three weeks after Todd Haselton deleted all his Gmail messages, the list is still there.

    Good evening #SDF and the wider #fediverse! Played some #Tekken today with friends and kicked butt with Kazuya, although shortly later I got my butt kicked by a Asuka player! Man I love #fighting games, always great fun to have tournaments with your buds. Anyways, today I saw an instance of #peertube setup and I thought that was awesome, eventually I'd like to setup my own instance of it. Lets keep fighting the good fight and not hand over our digital lives to #google and #facebook!

    Good evening #SDF and the wider #Fediverse! I'm still working on getting myself free from the clutches of #google and #comcast, but I feel like I'm 50% of the way there. I still use #twitter and #facebook, but feel bad about it. I can't give up facebook over night like I can twitter however, as it's the only way to really get in contact with family for now. How do you peeps deal with having to use a service you want no part of? Also, #MetaARPA is scheduled for next month at this rate :D

    Every time a #GMail user is unable to receive my #email because #Google inexplicably ate it, and someone suggests I should give up on !selfhost'ing and just let Google manage *my* mail too, I can only think "are you insane!? Then *I* wouldn't be able to receive e-mail either! Why would I want that!?".

    @rozzin Good link, thanx! I've got a bunch of people using #Google services on my roster. I still get their presence information, but can't chat with them. I suspect their access to XMPP was restricted when they tried Hangouts, which flipped some kind of internal switch on the Google servers.
