@hund !GNUsocial also supports #OpenID as dell as #FOAF

^- #FOAF graph network visualisation tagging helping for searching thingie post this here right blah.
-
@maloki It's a formal description of online "agents" (humans, machines, groups - the name is Friend Of A Friend and is designed to graph social relationships). Based on W3C "RDF" standard etc: http://xmlns.com/foaf/spec/ and more on #Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FOAF_%28ontology%29
My #FOAF profile document (can be used as a seed to start crawling the !fediverse): https://social.umeahackerspace.se/mmn/foaf
I can't find @chimo's example visualisation right now unfortunately.
-
@maloki It'd be neat if #Mastodon could offer #FOAF profiles ;)
-
@deadsuperhero Well, the info's gonna be there whether you like it or not. The data's there and profiles in a standards compatible !fediverse preferrably have a #FOAF transcription which means graphing of who knows who is available openly.
I do encourage keeping follower count low-key though (like calling them 'subscribers' as in !GNUsocial).

@rysiek @lambadalambda My hope is that #FOAF gets implemented in #Mastodon. Then any FOAF crawler can generate a good overview of the social graph.
(I can't add issues or requests since I'm not a customer with #GitHub, so cc: @gargron)

@moonman It is horrible, I agree. There's a reason I don't say I'm a !GNUsocial developer, but rather just a maintainer. I want nothing more than to see the codebase get rewritten from scratch in a sensible language.
Unfortunately, given the great body of work that the codebase is, rewriting and including all functionality that comes along with it takes a long, long time. #Mastodon's been at it for about a year now and still doesn't have, afaik: #FOAF, groups, various small helpful markup/header treats.
But they're getting there I guess. Unfortunately I'm allergic to Ruby.
-
@aroque We've got #FOAF to do just that. I think @chimo did some graphing.
-
@tuttle Every day I think of doing something awesome with the #FOAF profiles. Then I go to bed.
Something like this: https://social.umeahackerspace.se/attachment/54386

@discussthang Yes. Except for private instances. Remember that you've got #FOAF data for every profile too, programmatically linking user accounts together using RDF. So there's no point in hiding the user directory.
-
I added some #FOAF datasets to https://datahub.io/organization/gnusocial and intend to add more so it can be part of the #LODcloud representation on http://lod-cloud.net/ whenever it's generated anew. (but I should automate the task before I do further updates).

Let's celebrate the future with some #FOAF. This is me: http://www.foaf-search.net/Display?uri=https%3A%2F%2Fsocial.umeahackerspace.se%2Fuser%2F2

@mcscx @shabgard anyone could fiddle together something based on linked open data through #FOAF .)
