Good afternoon #SDF and the wider and wandering #fediverse ! So I installed #TrueOS on this machine. This machine is somewhat old, and has an integrated GPU, so the graphics for the #Lumina desktop suck, so I right away installed #KDE (For now, I also like minimal environments, but I wanted something comparable) and so far, so good. Still getting around a few things, and I feel like the Lumina desktop is in a quasi-beta state at the moment, but other than that, it works perfect!

Today I'm wondering about what #OSes you use at your work, home and hobby!

Also, what do you think of other processor architectures such as #ARM, #Alpha, #PowerPC and the like?

Do you think ARM has a chance to gain a foothold in the traditionally #x86 marketplace?

On another note, what do you think of the #Intel #NUCs?

Today I woke up to the sound of #rain, and it looks like it's gonna be cloudy and rainy all day.. so I'm gonna be feeling sleepy most of it, haha.

Fortunately I just had my #coffee. Before I get to the #tech stuff like I usually do, what's everyone's favorite sort of coffee flavor, brand, how do you make it etc? And if you don't like coffee, do you like #tea?

Today I wanted, just for fun, to get everyone's opinions on non-Unix systems(Except Windows, everyone already talks about their Windows opinions), like #FreeDOS , #RISCOS , #HAIKU and the like.

Do you use them seriously or are they mostly just toy OSes to you?

Advocating for a better future is always good, but to create one, that's always much harder.

I think my first step in this was becoming an ARPA member of SDF. That's why I also want to get a #hamradio license, to help out in emergencies, connect with community and so forth.

I remember seeing a presentation a while ago, the speaker had an idea to get the internet to those in #Cuba . I'll talk more about that in the next post.
