I know I keep talking about getting that #cyberpunk vibe but my current state really drives it home: Using a recycled older phone running #replicant to keep in touch with my wife and a few folks via encrypted channels over !xmpp (decentralization/federation), listening to a #32C3 video happening live all the way across the world (hackers, activists, counter-culture), downloading several low-def #cc licensed 32C3 talks via #bittorrent (distributed/decentralized as well) from my recycled server running !trisquel mini (that local friends share with me [#commons]) to play on my recycled netbook running #jessie (trusted/encrypted machine), while using a non-trusted laptop running Xubuntu with little islands of #freesoftware (such as #emacs) to build proprietary programs that build infrastructure to collect and analyze malware signatures for my employer, and all of this running on my open wireless network that I provide for the locals in and near this building. All in a leased room in an old Victorian home. My mohawk, new "low end" car packed with 27 locked down computers, and our late stage capitalist goings on are just added flavor.
